Product Details

Learn to analyze and identify over-the-counter (OTC) drugs including popular pain relievers, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Bufferin® and Excedrin® and common antacids. Students test a variety of physical and chemical properties of actual OTC drug samples, then use their test results to analyze unknown pain reliever and antacid samples. Teacher Notes and reproducible student handouts included. Over-the-counter drug samples—pain relievers and antacids—and specialized equipment are provided in the kit. Performance Expectations

MS-PS1-2. Analyze and interpret data on the properties of substances before and after the substances interact to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred.
HS-PS1-3. Plan and conduct an investigation to gather evidence to compare the structure of substances at the bulk scale to infer the strength of electrical forces between particles.
